The successful candidate will hold a 9-month, tenure track full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time, 9-month/academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates should have a research and publication record in Microelectronics with an emphasis on Signal and Power Integrity / Electronic Packaging. Successful candidates are expected to perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, pursue an active research program, and advise undergraduate and graduate students.

Major Responsibilities:

The faculty member will be based at the University of Idaho (UI) in Moscow, Idaho, USA. They will actively collaborate with other researchers in the ECE department. 

We seek an outstanding candidate who will conduct research in Microelectronics with an emphasis on Signal and Power Integrity / Electronic Packaging, and will participate in the growth of a nationally competitive externally-funded research program at the University of Idaho. The research program will include engagement in cross-disciplinary efforts and with industry partners. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of microelectronics, and elective and graduate courses in related subjects in consultation with the department chair. The ideal candidate should have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, assist in the assessment of ECE degree programs, and participate in distance education through the University’s Engineering Outreach program. Service and outreach will include contributions to the department, university, State of Idaho, and profession. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and to the continuation of UI’s 100-plus year commitment to engineering education. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or related fields by August 2014.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, and a demonstrated track record in peer review publications.
  • Demonstrate substantial potential or track record to attract extramural research funding
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses.
  • This position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check 
  • Registered professional engineer or potential for registration within five years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate and graduate degrees must be in electrical engineering or related fields.
  • Applicants with specialty in Signal and Power Integrity / Electronic Packaging.
  • Strong laboratory and IC design skills and track records 
  • Recent research experience as evidenced by publications in refereed venues within the last three years.
  • Relevant industrial experience is highly desirable.
  • Possessing PE license is a plus.
